In November of 2016, my Dad was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer (T3 Exocrine Adenocarcinoma). I have been toying with the idea for a little while, well now, it’s time to put those idea’s to action.
I will be doing a timed walk (with ParkRun) every two months, with the weight I have lost until that point in a bag on my back. The plan is to continue doing this, with the distance getting further and further and obviously the weight increasing.
I am putting this in place, as a healthy way of dealing with the stresses that go with a diagnosis like this. Finding a constructive way of coping with all the emotions that go with this is important to me.
Pancreatic Cancer UK have been a fantastic support to me, I feel it’s only fair I pay them back.
Pancreatic Cancer is the only Cancer in which the survival rates haven’t changed much in the last 40+ years and is seriously underfunded next to Skin Cancer and Breast Cancer. (https://pancreaticcanceraction.org/about-pancreatic-cancer/stats-facts/prognosis-survival/ )
This is me doing my bit for that funding.
